My Life With Stenosis

Living With Spinal Stenosis

Snow Days

We’ve had snow this past week. While usually the only thing affected is migraines; this time the pain in my back was the worst it’s been. That being said, I was able to manage it with Ibuprofen and muscle relaxers. Before the snow came, I had gotten a balance board and was able to start working on my balance and getting back on my surfboard. When the snow started to fall, however, I found myself in bed more than I was working on school work. Lying on a heating pad seemed to work for a short period of time, but the pain was still there.

Thankfully it wasn’t as bad as it was before but it was still there. Part of me can’t help but wonder if some of the pain and symptoms are actually coming from the tumor that is just hanging out in the bone of my S2. I go back to the doctor in a week and 2 days to really discuss the results of my MRI and what the next steps are. I’m concerned, to be completely honest, that the next step is neurosurgery to see what they would recommend for me. I know neurosurgery handles the spinal surgery and would probably recommend radiation but I will find out everything on March 5th. We’ll also see how we’ll proceed since the ablation didn’t fully work this time. All I can do at this moment, is take it one day at a time and, as Dory says, just keep swimming.
