My Life With Stenosis

Living With Spinal Stenosis

School is Back in Session but the Pain is Taking a Nap

Spring Break was officially over Monday and I was back at it as far as school is concerned. Job wise, no one will hire me at a job where I need to sit. There’s no point in trying for a standing job since I don’t know when the pain will come back. So, I have applied for disability. According to the website and my doctors, it’s pretty much take your pick as far as my spinal conditions that qualify me for disability. Whether or not I get approved is another thing altogether. I should know something between September and November. Around the time that I get into the swing of another semester where I’m at or at UNC Greensboro.

This term, I’m still stuck with Biology, which I have never been good at, and my last writing class. The writing class I can handle, I did just fine with the last one. The Biology class on the other hand, I really need some help. Every quiz I’ve taken so far, I’ve failed. This last one, was my highest failing grade to date. As embarrassed as I am since I’m a member of two honor societies, I am quite proud of the high failing grade. But, at least I’m still passing the class and my GPA is still 3.7.

The pain is, all I can describe, taking a nap. It’s still there, but the severe pain is gone. I can manage day to day life with muscle relaxers. I wish I could say that the symptoms, which effect so much of my daily life, were gone but they are still there. Thankfully, they aren’t as bad as before but they are still there. I still have days that I struggle, but I’m still walking; which is great. I’m walking up to a mile and a half on the days that my back is ok with it.

Sunday I’m getting baptized which I can’t wait to do. I was baptized as a child but I didn’t really know what it meant then. Now that I’m older, I know what it means and since I rededicated my life a few years ago, it was time. It is something I am truly excited about. Until next week guys! Have a great week!
