While this isn’t stenosis related, at least this first part, I have had to have another surgery. I believe I mentioned it in a previous post, but it was related to some other issues that I had previously. While those issues have resolved themselves now, it was a bit touch and go for a little while. I was told, with the recovery, I would bleed but not for how long. I had bled three weeks prior to this procedure and bled a week and a half afterwards.
During that time, I tried to live life as normal ending up cutting myself pretty bad shaving. Yes, even at my age, I still do that. While I was trying to stop the bleeding, I almost passed out. I had decided that night, enough was enough. I had spent the week before, in the immediate aftermath of the surgery, in bed too weak to pretty much do anything. I went to the doctor and had blood tests done. My iron was low, both saturation and the reserve storage and my B12 was low. Finally, after four and a half weeks of bleeding I’m on iron and B12 supplements to bring my levels back up. I’ve also stopped bleeding finally, so I can really build those levels back up now.
As if that wasn’t enough, the stenosis decided to say hello again. Laying in bed almost round the clock isn’t good for the disease. I did have one day where I barely made it to my desk and chair due to the pain. Thankfully, it only lasted an hour and it was gone. But, it has came back several times over the last nearly two weeks. Listening to my body and resting when I need to from the low iron and surgery and being easy on my back is a very difficult task to manage. So, I’ve had to return to the comfort of muscle relaxers and pain medications. So, if you have a surgery that is coming up soon, remember to find that delicate sweet spot between resting and sleeping and what works for your back. I’m still trying to find that sweet spot.
Most of all remember, THE KING IS ALIVE! Happy Easter everyone! Until next week.
